CAN I STILL PLAY SPORTS IF
I AM ATTENDING JFK?

While JFK does not formally have sports teams, it is possible to continue to participate in athletics at your home school.*  We do encourage our students to live a healthy, well-balanced life, which includes time management.  While filling your schedule with High School, College, and extra-curricular activities is possible... we encourage each student/family to consider what works best for them.

SIMPLE ANSWER:

Any student attending JFK can continue to play sports at their ‘home’ (CNUSD) school.  Students attending JFK from outside of the CNUSD district cannot participate in CIF athletics.*

COMPLEX ANSWER:
Every student’s story is unique and comes with a multitude of variables that factor in to their ability to attend JFK and continue to participate in CIF athletics.  Some things you need to be aware of are:
    - Transfers:  If you are a student who transferred from one school to another in order to take advantage of a particular program, you would only be able to play for your original ‘home’ school.  Think of it this way - you can only have one active transfer at a time; so if you left Norco in order to be in the IB program at CeHS... if you transfer to JFK, you could only play sports at Norco.
     - For Most students coming from outside of CNUSD, it is not possible to participate in sports at a CNUSD school because you most likely established yourself in CIF in your home district.
     - Specialized Sports?:  CNUSD and JFK are sometimes able to work with students who are active in approved, high-level, physical competitions.  Independent PE requirements differ from CIF rules, and individuals wishing to participate in Independent PE must complete their request forms in the Spring each year, and submit them for approval.
