The Language Arts department at JFK provides a rigorous curriculum that prepares students to enter university level writing courses. Students are expected to read, write, critically think and articulate their thoughts orally on a daily basis in class.
Our department utilizes Turnitin.com to submit all written essays, many projects and powerpoints throughout the year. Students are expected to move through the writing process and compose several drafts of their writing and participate in self and peer reviews and edits of their writing as well as conferring with their teacher to meet their goals of becoming better writers.
