Orange Grove, Centennial, and Roosevelt Compete in Annual Design Build Competition

Orange Grove, Centennial, and Roosevelt Compete in Annual Design Build Competition

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - Congratulations to Orange Grove, Roosevelt and Centennial High School for competing in the 2024 Construction Industry Education Foundation Design Build Competition!

Every school was challenged to design, prepare construction documents, and build a shed according to criteria outlined by CIEF. Students were judged on the completion of design, safety and health adherence, and construction phases of their structure. This competition allowed Career Technical Education students to see true job-related work where multiple schools were working toward a goal. Design Build provides a chance for students to showcase the skills they have learned and mastered in our CTE classes in a setting that includes industry partners and future career pathways.  It’s a highlight and end-of-year goal for our students to compete and perform well.

The CEIF Design Build Competition recognized student achievement and affords the construction industry an opportunity to support schools, students, and career technical education programs. The competition provides an opportunity for high school students to gain firsthand knowledge of the construction industry and have hands-on experience in the construction process.

Special thank you to CTE Teachers, Mr. Zepeda (Orange Grove High), Mr. Vanderweerd (Centennial High), and Mr. Wagoner (Roosevelt High) for their incredible efforts to bring their teams together for this competition. The students were so engaged and the builds were incredible.

Special congratulations to:

  • ERHS for winning the Team Safety Award!

  • OGHS for earning the Architectural Award!

  • Tania Fabian Orange Grove High School  for earning a $1,000 scholarship!

  • Rubi Sanchez Eleanor Roosevelt High School for earning a $500 scholarship!
