Corona High's Funky Phresh Krew (FPK) Wins Two Championship Titles!

CORONA, CA- Corona High’s Funky Phresh Krew (FPK) closed out their competition season triumphantly by bringing home the state championship title! Led and directed by Teacher and Coach Sherwin Sanders, the FPK team competed in the annual California Association of Dance/Drill Team Directors (CADTD) competition, hosted in Orange County, where they showcased their remarkable skills and talents. This year, FPK’s set theme was “Sweet Dreams, where they fully embraced the theme by wearing pajama pants for their performance.

The team competed in the all-male division, where they secured the top placement in their category. Their performance showcased their remarkable talent, exceptional technique, and unwavering dedication that distinguished them from their competitors. Their outstanding performance clinched FPK the state title for the all-male division! 

Following their triumphant state title championship, FPK went on to win the Overall Grand Champion in the Hip-Hop category! The team won this category by being the top scoring group out of the 55 teams competing. “Winning the State and Grand Champion titles is a huge victory. It shows our team’s dedication, unity, and passion for dance. This reflects countless hours of hard work and the extraordinary effort of every team member” said Coach Sherwin Sanders. “They competed with everything they had, and I couldn’t have been prouder as a coach in what these guys have accomplished this year.” 

While this marks the end of their high school competition season, the team is set to compete in the following months against studio and international teams. “Our goal is to take this energy and compete on the international stage to become one of the best teams in the world competitive circuit,” said Coach Sanders.
