Avijeet Randhawa Wins Second County Spelling Bee

Riverside, CA - The 46th Annual Riverside County Spelling Bee was a buzz with another championship title secured by Avijeet Randhawa, an eighth-grade student from Auburndale Intermediate School.  Avijeet's second win in a row not only underscores his individual accomplishment but also continues a swarm of wins in his family’s history with Riverside County's Spelling Bee.

Avijeet follows in the footsteps of his accomplished older sisters, Lara (2021 and 2022 champion) and Aisha (the victor in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019). His triumph marks the family's eighth consecutive victory in the Riverside County Spelling Bee, emphasizing their hive of exceptional talent and dedication to the competition over the years.

"I've been getting up at 4:30 a.m. every morning and studying for 5-7 hours every day for the last few months in preparation for this event," shared Avijeet. "I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed as I go to the national competition."

A total of 26 students from Riverside County participated in the 46th edition of the Spelling Bee. Avijeet Randhawa's flight to victory saw him navigate through 19 rounds of intense competition. Ultimately, he scored the championship by accurately spelling the word "crescendo" in the final round.

Avijeet's win earns him the honor of representing Riverside County once again at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee, scheduled to take place May 26-31 in Maryland. His dedication, hard work, and exceptional spelling abilities continue to shine a bright light on CNUSD's academic talent.
